The Austrian band Orbital Hotel has been active for over a decade and has so far distinguished itself with a particularly substantial output (there are as many as thirteen albums attributable to the project). The preferred sonic matrix of the trio has never strayed from a well-established model, which favors cosmic sounds and a markedly experimental approach.
Listening to "Missing Link" gives almost the impression of being in the presence of a psychedelic jam session within which each musician's contribution spontaneously flows into an abstract and multicolored artistic dimension. A sense of detachment from the real world takes over in step with the succession of the various tracks: disorienting dreamlike landscapes fluctuate incessantly, generated by a flow of masterfully assembled notes.
Completely instrumental, the album is an enveloping demonstration of elegance that starts from indisputable technical qualities to arrive at drawing suasive atmospheres, with a mellifluous guitar always in the foreground and incisive rhythmic textures.
Yet another demonstration of the potential of a collective capable of offering experiences that go well beyond the merely musical plane.
